- Alice was a person who was an expert and she used strategies in her paper; she also views tasks completely different when helping Shirley.
- Shirley had trouble with her sophomore- level writing class

- She told her to select and evaluate her material and use it as proof in an original argument and to talk about the sources. To also create in an original structure.

Time based organizational patterns is form of events that happen is order from when it started to when it ended. Shirley organizes the expository analysis as a narrative.
"A rank ordering sources, as with Mary's analysis of the football game coverage with the sources listed in an order of ascending disapproval , represents a step away from storytelling and toward synthesizing because it embodies a persuasive evaluation" (Kantz, 1990,pg.78)
